writer & filmmaker
Rayn Epremian is a British-American writer, filmmaker, and language enthusiast who travels extensively in worlds both real and imagined. She writes in many mediums and endeavors to speak in many tongues. In 2015 she graduated from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where she studied screenwriting and linguistics. In 2018 she wrote, directed, and produced the short fantasy film “Multiverse”. Her poetry has appeared in speculative poetry magazine Liminality and in Proverse Hong Kong's 4th "Mingled Voices" Anthology, and she periodically reads her work at public events such as 2018’s Period Party at the New Women Space in Brooklyn. She spent February 2019 writing a fantasy novel at a month-long writing residency at Villa Sarkia in Sysmä, Finland, and in July 2019 she attended the SLS poetry workshop with Ariana Reines in Tbilisi, Georgia. She most recently earned her MSc in Evolution of Language and Cognition at the University of Edinburgh, completing a dissertation on the evolution of narrative (check out the cute aliens from her experiment in the Animation section below!). Her next film, 'Una', is about magical creatures living in modern-day Edinburgh. Other projects in the works include a poetry collection, several feature screenplays, and a musical.
