Rayn Epremian is a writer, filmmaker, artist, and language enthusiast telling speculative stories in various formats. Rayn was a 2022 All3Media New Voice Awards nominee for their sci-fi TV script MAGPIE, and in 2018 they wrote, directed, and produced the short film MULTIVERSE. Their short film script UNA was a finalist in the 2021 Emerging Screenwriters Shoot Your Short Competition. Rayn's short story A STAR ON THE TONGUE, a finalist in the Language Evolves Competition 2020, appeared in issue #10 of Fusion Fragment, and they have published poetry in Liminality, ADR, and two print anthologies from Proverse Hong Kong.
Rayn spent February 2019 writing a fantasy novel at the Villa Sarkia residency in Sysmä, Finland, and in July 2019 they attended the SLS poetry workshop with Ariana Reines in Tbilisi, Georgia. Rayn has an MSc in Evolution of Language and Cognition from the University of Edinburgh, and presented their dissertation on the evolution of narrative at the ProtoLang and Cultural Evolution Society conferences in 2021.
Current projects include a poetry collection, a fantasy novella, several feature and TV screenplays, and a musical. Originally from New York, Rayn now lives in London where they work in TV drama development.
